HILLSBORO, Ill.- The Illinois College men's and women's cross country teams traveled to compete at the Greenville Classic on Friday evening. The men's team was able to earn a third-place finish out of eight teams, and the women's team finished sixth out of seven teams.
The Blueboys were led by
Elgin Scherff finishing fifth overall with a time of 26:39.43. He was followed closely by
Devin Boggs with a seventh-place finish and a time of 26:57.45.
Will Detmer placed 19th (27:40.68),
Eduardo Fulgencio placed 28th (28:32.15), and
Nick Hannig placed 30th (28:35.31) to round out the top five finishers for IC.
The Lady Blues were led by
Ashley Orrick placing 28th overall with a time of 22:37.75.
Kairy Mercado-Ramos was the second finisher for IC with a 33rd-place finish and a time of 23:01.52. She was followed by
Claire Peters placing 35th (23:08.52),
Ashley Drake placing 45th (26:08.13), and Maddie Murphy placing 50th (30:09.52).
Both teams will look ahead as they compete in the Midwest Conference Championship hosted by Monmouth College on Saturday, 10/29 at 11:00 AM.
