JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Blueboys hosted Lawrence University in MWC action on Saturday. The Blueboys earned a big win with thier first shutout of the season defeating the Vikings 57-0. This improves the team to 2-4 overall and 1-4 in the MWC.
IC relied on outstanding quarterback play from
Elijah Pollice. Pollice completed 11 of 17 passing attempts with 175 yards and five touchdowns.
Trevor Smalls was the teams leading rusher with 71 yards on the evening and one rushing touchdown from 51 yards out.
Collin Brunstein led the receiving core with 96 yards and three receiving touchdowns.
The defense had an exceptional day with their first shutout victory of the season. Five Blueboys were able to total four tackles in the contest.
Colten Roswell led the team with 2.5 tackles for loss.
IC was able to air it out early connecting on a 29-yard touchdown pass and catch from Pollice to Brunstein on the first drive of the game. A field goal by
Toby McTamney would make the score 9-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Brunstein caught his second touchdown of the day in the second quarter to extend the Blueboys lead.
KJ Corley was able to get involved with a touchdown reception from 19 yards out to make the score 23-0. After scores from Smalls and Brunstein, the Blueboys would hold a commanding lead 37-0 heading into halftime.
IC would continue to dominate in the second half to claim their first conference victory of the season.
The Blueboys football team will return to action on the road against Knox College on Saturday, 10/22 at 1:00 PM.
