JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Lady Blues hosted Ripon College in their first game of the new year this Saturday. The team suffered a loss to the Red Hawks with a final of 72-80. This drops IC to 3-7 overall and 2-3 in the MWC.

Junie Zirkelbach led the team in scoring with 19 points each.
Lilly Pepper led the team on the boards recording a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.Â
The game got off to a close start with both teams trading the lead back and forth. Ripon held the lead 15-14 at the end of the first quarter. The Red Hawks were able to pull away in the second quarter going on a 12-4 run to stand ahead 27-40 heading into halftime.
The Lady Blues battled back to cut the lead to single digits after a made free throw by Pepper to make the score 53-61. Ripon was able to hold off the late comeback attempt by the Lady Blues to walk away with the win.Â
IC will travel to take on Lake Forest College on Saturday, 1/15 at 5:00 PM.Â
