LAKE FOREST, Ill.- The Illinois College Lady Blues traveled to face Lake Forest College on Saturday. The team was able to walk away with a narrow victory defeating the Foresters with a final of 77-74. This improves IC to 4-7 overall and 3-3 in the MWC.
Junie Zirkelbach led the team in scoring totaling 20 points in the contest. She was followed by
Ashlyn Wightman (14),
Kendra Bass (12), and
Krista Bass (10) who also reached double figures in scoring.
The Lady Blues stood in an evenly matched contest through two quarters with Lake Forest standing ahead by two points 29-31. Both teams stood tied 65-65 after a made layup by Zirkelbach with 1:53 left in the fourth quarter. IC was able to establish a late lead and depend on good free throw shooting down the stretch to secure the win.
The Lady Blues will travel to face Knox College on Tuesday, 1/18 at 7:00 PM.
