JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Blueboys hosted the top ranked team in the Midwest Conference in the Cornell College Rams this Wednesday. IC was able to upset the Rams picking up the win with a final of 79-69. This advances the Blueboys to 9-7 overall and 5-3 in the MWC.
Tre Rogers had a career night leading the team with an outstanding 39 points in the contest.
Henry Hayer (14) and
Jake Mazrimas (12) were also able to reach double figures in scoring for IC.
Hunter Ottensmeier led the team on the boards recording 9 rebounds on the night.
The game proved to be very physical with both teams battling for the lead. IC was able to jump ahead 32-28 at the end of the first half. The Blueboys were able to open the lead back up in the second half leading by 15 points after a made jumper by Rogers with the score 47-32. Cornell was able to battle back to cut the lead to just four points with 7:16 left in regulation.
Rogers stepped up, hitting three consecutive three-pointers in a row to extend the Blueboys lead back to double digits. IC would hold on to give Cornell their first conference loss of the season.
The Blueboys will return to action this weekend hosting Grinnell College on Saturday, 1/29 at 3:00 PM.
