JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Blueboys hosted Ripon College this Sunday in MWC action. The Blueboys were able to earn a win over the Red Hawks with a final score of 70-64. This moves IC to third place in the MWC with an overall record of 8-7 and a MWC record of 4-3.
Jake Mazrimas led the team with 18 points in the contest.
Henry Hayer (16) and
Hunter Ottensmeier (13) were also able to reach double figures in scoring. Ottensmeier led the team on the boards recording 6 rebounds.
IC gained the lead and the momentum after a made three-pointer by
Jaxson Dian and a foul for an opportunity at a four point play. Dian hit the free throw to give IC the lead with the score at 43-42. A made three-pointer by Ripon would tie the game 62-62 with 1:29 left in the second half.
Tre Rogers was able to get to the rim to make a layup and draw a foul for the chance at a three point play. IC then relied on great free throw shooting down the stretch to seal the win.
The Blueboys will look ahead to face the number one ranked team in the MWC in Cornell College on Wednesday, 1/26 at 5:30 PM.
