JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College women's volleyball team hosted Dominican University on Wednesday night. The team fell after five sets with a final of 20-25, 17-25, 25-14, 25-21, 21-23. This drops the Lady Blues to 5-8 overall this season.
The team was led by
Brenna Dameris totaling 16 kills on the night.
Morgan Burr was able to set her teammates up for success tallying up 36 assists in the match. The defense was led by
Alyssa Huffman with 14 digs. She was followed by Burr (13),
Reagan Gifford (13), and
Jen Humbolt (12) who were also able to reach double figures in digs.Â
After falling in the first two sets the Lady Blues were able to find a spark and battle back. The team won the next two sets to force the fifth set tiebreaker. Both teams traded points back and forth until both teams were tied 21-21 in the final set. Dominican would finish the game after a kill and a service ace to defeat the Lady Blues and go home with the win.Â
The Lady Blues will look ahead to face Carroll University on the road Friday, 10/1 at 7:00 PM.
