JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Blueboys soccer team took on the Finlandia University Lions on Tuesday night. The team was able to come away with an impressive win with a final score of 7-2.
Toby Ybarra got the Blueboys going early with a goal in the first minute after an assist by
Dillon Arens to give IC the early lead.
Thomas Menke extended the lead for IC after an assist by
Marc Majeres in the 11th minute. The Blueboys would continue to control the pace scoring two more goals before the end of the first half to stand ahead of the Lions 4-0 heading into halftime.Â
Finlandia would look to get back in the game scoring the first goal of the second half to make the score 4-1.
Chris Jean-Louis would answer with a goal of his own taking advantage of a free kick just outside of the box. Jean-Louis was able to get a beautiful touch on the ball to sail it around the Lion defenders and into the net.Â
The Blueboys would go on to score two more goals in the final minutes to seal the win and advance to 6-3 overall on the season.
Chase McNeill had a great night in the goal for the Blueboys recording five saves in the contest.Â
IC will travel to face Lincoln Christian in their next match tomorrow, 9/29 at 4:00 PM.Â
