BELOIT, Wis.- The Illinois College Lady Blues began Midwest Conference competition in a Friday night road match against Beloit College. IC earned a hard fought win after five sets 19-25, 25-18, 25-22, 22-25, 15-9.
The team was led by
Brenna Dameris totaling 17 kills in the match.
Abbie Horstmann (14) and
Sam Sabo (12) were also able to reach double figures in kills.
Morgan Burr tallied up 47 assists while making an impact on defense with 21 digs.
Logyn Little led the team with 26 digs followed by
Reagan Gifford with 25.
The match was decided after a fifth set tiebreaker. The Lady Blues were able to put together a 6-0 run in the beginning of the set to give them a commanding lead 9-3. Horstmann ended the match with a kill after an assist from Burr to earn IC the victory in their conference opener.
The Lady Blues continue MWC play traveling to face Grinnell College on Saturday, 9/25 at 1:00PM.
