Blueboys Suffer Losses in Road Doubleheader Against Grinnell

GRINNELL, Iowa- The Illinois College Blueboys traveled to take on Grinnell College in a Sunday doubleheader today. IC suffered two losses to the Pioneers with finals of 7-4 and 8-7. This puts the Blueboys at 18-17 overall and 15-8 in the MWC. 

Game 1- Illinois College 4, Grinnell College 7

Cade Hennemann was able to get the bats going early with a double in the top of the second to bring in a run by Griffin King and get the Blueboys on the board first. Tyler Blum would then homer in the top of the third to increase the Blueboys lead to 2-0 over Grinnell. 

Grinnell answered back scoring seven unanswered runs to take a commanding lead over the Blueboys. This would be enough to earn Grinnell the win in game one.

Christian Stawar suffered the loss at the mound for the Blueboys pitching 5.0 innings with five strikeouts. 

Game 2- Illinois College 7, Grinnell College 8

Bailey Reed would make his presence felt early in game two with a homerun in the top of the first inning bringing in Tyler Blum and Peyton Phillis to put the Blueboys up 3-0. 

Grinnell then put together a string of scores to jump ahead of IC 6-3 at the end of the fourth. 

Cullen McBride homered in the seventh and Griffin King would homer in the eighth, but the Blueboys would fall short in the end as the Pioneers took game two.
