IC Baseball Falls in NCAA Round One Matchup Against WashU

DECATUR, Ill.- The Illinois College Blueboys took on No. 1 Washington University St. Louis in the first round of the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship Tournament on Thursday at Millikin University. The team suffered a loss to the Bears with a final of 0-2.

The Bears would get on the board first scoring off a single in the first inning. The team added to their lead with a sacrifice fly in the second inning to bring in another run to stand ahead 2-0.

Outstanding defense by both teams would hold the rest of the game scoreless as Washington University St. Louis ultimately earned the win. Tyler Blum, Cullen McBride, and Cade Hennemann would lead the offense for the Blueboys with one hit each. 

Christian Stawar would suffer the loss at the mound pitching seven innings earning two strikeouts. 

The team will look ahead to play Friday, 5/28 in an elimination game at 11:00 AM against the loser of Webster University and Transylvania University.
