IC Softball Earns a Pair of Wins Against Knox College

JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Lady Blues picked up two wins in today's doubleheader against the Knox College Prairie Fire with finals of 11-0 and 5-0. This improves the Lady Blues to 21-11 overall and 11-1 in the MWC. 

Game 1- Illinois College 11, Knox College 0, 5 innings

The Lady Blues would get off to a hot start in game one scoring four runs in the bottom of the first. 

Jenna Wright would double in the second to bring in a run by Madisyn Webster to extend the lead to 5-0. IC would score two more runs by Emma Newton and Wright to stand ahead 7-0 after the second inning. 

The Lady Blues would continue to extend their lead scoring four more runs in the third inning to secure the victory. 

Sydney Hood would earn the win in the circle pitching a no hitter through five innings with five strikeouts.

Game 2- Illinois College 5, Knox College 0

IC would carry their momentum into game two jumping to an early lead. Grace Braun and Grace Frost would score for the Lady Blues in the second inning to make the score 2-0.

Braun would single in the third to bring in a run by Maddy Morgan, and Calynn Gicante would double in the fourth to bring in runs by Webster and Claudia Adam. This would be enough to earn the Lady Blues the victory in game two. 

Alissa Hodge would earn the win in game two pitching 3.2 innings and earning two strikeouts. 

Illinois College will travel to face Grinnell College on Saturday, 5/8 at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
