GRINNELL, Iowa- The Illinois College Lady Blues clinched the MWC South Division title after a win in game one of today's doubleheader against Grinnell College. IC will now host Lake Forest College, the MWC North Division Champions, in a three game series in the MWC Softball Championship this weekend.
Game 1- Illinois College 9, Grinnell College 2
The first game of the day was a continuation of the game one contest that took place this past weekend.
Illinois College had a productive fourth inning offensively scoring eight unanswered runs to jump ahead of the Pioneers 8-1.
Cheyenne Anderson would double to bring in a run by
Jenna Wright to extend the Lady Blues lead to 9-1 before the game was postponed due to rain.
The Lady Blues picked up right where they left off closing the deal to earn the win and clinch the MWC South Division title.
Sydney Hood would earn the win in the circle pitching all seven innings with seven strikeouts.
Game 2- Illinois College 8, Grinnell College 5
The Lady Blues were able to defeat the Pioneers in game two to complete the sweep.
Both teams would stand tied 2-2 in the top of the fourth. Grinnell would put together a string of scores to take a 5-2 lead over the Lady Blues.
IC bounced back in the top of the sixth to tie the game at 5-5.

Grace Braun singled to bring in runs by
Madisyn Webster and
Jada Johnson to seal the win giving the team the sweep over the Pioneers.
