GREENCASTLE, Ind.- The Illinois College Lady Blues volleyball team wrapped up their season on the road taking on DePauw University. The team picked up a hard fought win after five sets with final scores of 14-25, 27-25, 21-25, 25-15, 15-12.
Madison Klanke led the team offensively with 13 kills in the contest.
Morgan Burr would lead the team with 38 assists, and
Jen Humbolt led the team defensively with 25 digs.
After a first set loss to the Tigers, the Lady Blues looked to even the match up in the second set. After a back and forth contest both teams were tied at 25-25. A setting error and a kill by
Reagan Gifford would give the Lady Blues the 27-25 win to even the match.
DePauw would answer by winning set number three to take back the lead 2-1. The Lady Blues would start the fourth set with a 6-1 run to take control early. The Lady Blues would win the fourth set after a kill by
Sam Sabo and an attack error from the Tigers to force the fifth set tiebreaker.
The final set proved to be a battle. After being tied 12-12 the Lady Blues were able to pull away on a kill from Sabo, a service ace by
Kati Casey, and an attack error by the Tigers to pull off the win 15-12.
The Lady Blues volleyball team finishes their season with an overall record of 5-4.
