IC Softball Sweeps Knox College at Home in Saturday Doubleheader

JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Lady Blues hosted the Knox College Prairie Fire in a weekend doubleheader this Saturday. The team defeated the Prairie Fire in game one 9-0 and earned the win in game two 7-0. 

Game 1- Illinois College 9, Knox College 0, 5 innings

The Lady Blues were able to jump to an early lead after a double by Jenna Wright brought in a run by Jessica Belzer in the first. Maddy Morgan would single to bring in the run by Wright to make the score 2-0.

Belzer would earn an inside the park homerun to bring in Madisyn Webster and Annabeth Batson to extend the lead to 6-0 in the bottom of the second. 

IC would continue to produce on offense to defeat Knox College 9-0 after five innings. 

Sydney Hood earned the win at the mound pitching for 3.0 innings. 

Game 2- Illinois College 7, Knox College 0

The second game of the day would feature more offensive success by the Lady Blues. Wright doubled to bring in runs by Webster and Belzer to give the Lady Blues the lead 2-0. A single by Grace Frost would bring in a run by Wright to make the score 3-0 at the end of the first inning. 

A triple by Maddy Morgan would bring in two runs by Webster and Belzer to extend the Lady Blues lead. IC would add two more runs to their total to seal the win over the Prairie Fire. 

Alissa Hodge earned the win on the mound pitching for 3.0 innings with five strikeouts.
