IC Baseball Earns Sweep Over Knox College Saturday

JACKSONVILLE, Ill- The Illinois College baseball team earned the sweep over the Knox College Prairie Fire in Saturday's doubleheader. The team won game one with a final of 11-4 and earned a victory in game two 16-0. 

Game 1- Illinois College 11, Knox College 4

The first game of the day featured a strong offensive showing from the Blueboys. The Blueboys were able to jump to a 3-1 lead after the end of the first inning. 

James Marcinkowski would extend the lead with a solo homerun in the third inning. Caleb Uselton would score on a single from Peyton Abbott to make the score 5-1. 

Marcinkowski would earn his second homerun of the day in the fifth inning to put the Blueboys up 6-2. 

The Blueboys would keep the bats going to seal the victory with a final of 11-4. 

Griffin King would earn the win on the mound after pitching for 6.0 innings and earning 10 strikeouts. 


Game 2- Illinois College 16, Knox College 0

IC would keep the momentum going into the second game of the day. Bailey Reed would single in the bottom of the first to bring in a run by Tyler Blum to give the Blueboys the early lead. 

Illinois College would explode offensively in the bottom of the third inning to score seven runs and take the demanding lead over the Prairie Fire. A triple by Blum in the fifth inning would bring in a run by Abbott to make the score 12-0. 

A homerun by Daniel Burns in the bottom of the sixth would seal the win for the Blueboys in game two. 

Christian Stawar would earn the win in the pitching position earning nine strikeouts through 5.0 innings. 

Illinois College will travel to compete against Monmouth College on Saturday, 4/10 at 12:00 PM and 2:30 PM.
