JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Blueboys suffered a loss at home against the Monmouth College Fighting Scots with a final of 21-11. This drops the Blueboys to 11-12 overall and 8-3 in the MWC. Game one of the doubleheader was postponed due to rain.
Monmouth College would get on the board first taking an early 3-0 lead after the top of the second. IC would answer in the bottom of the second to tie the game 3-3.
A sacrifice fly by
Peyton Abbott would bring in
Griffin King for the go ahead run in the bottom of the third. The Scots would not go away easy as they put together three runs to take back the lead in the top of the fourth.
The Blueboy's bats would come to life in the sixth inning.
Bailey Reed was able to hit a two run homer to tie the score 6-6. The next at bat would feature a homerun by
James Marcinkowski to give the Blueboys back the lead.
Monmouth College took back the momentum after scoring 10 runs in the eighth inning to jump to a demanding lead 16-8. This would be to much for the Blueboys to overcome as Monmouth would come away with the victory.
The Blueboys will travel to face Monmouth College on the road tomorrow 4/25 at 12:00 PM and 2:30 PM.
