MOUNT VERNON, Iowa- The Illinois College Blueboys men's basketball team was able to pick up a win on the road against Cornell College on Sunday with a final score of 67-65. This improves the team to 5-2 overall this season.
Tre Rogers led the team in scoring with 25 points on the night. Other double figure scorers included
Hunter Ottensmeier with 14 and
Jaxson Dian with 11.
Jake Mazrimas led the team on the boards with 10 rebounds in the contest.
The game proved to be a competitive contest with both teams tied 35-35 at the end of the first half.
With under a minute left to go both teams would be tied at 65-65. After a missed opportunity by the Rams the Blueboys would secure the rebound and call timeout.
Rogers would take the game into his own hands and get the go ahead layup in the final seconds to earn his team the win.
The team will travel to take on Knox College in their next contest on Saturday, 3/13 at 3:00 PM.
