DECATUR, Ill.- The Illinois College Lady Blues Softball team traveled to take on Millikin University for a Friday doubleheader. The Lady Blues would come up short in game one with a final score of 4-2 and suffer a loss in game two 10-2. This puts the Lady Blues at 3-5 overall this season.
Game 1- Illinois College 2, Millikin University 4
The Lady Blues would strike first in game one after a sacrifice fly by
Madisyn Webster was able to bring in a run by
Jessica Belzer in the first inning. IC would add to their lead in the top of the third after a double by Webster was able to bring in a run by Belzer once again.Â
Millikin would answer back in the bottom of the fifth to put up three runs to take the lead over the Lady Blues 3-2. Millikin would add another run in the top of the sixth to secure the victory with a final of 4-2.Â
Sydney Hood suffered her second loss of the season at the pitching position. She finished the game recording four strikeouts through six innings pitched.Â
Game 2- Illinois College 2, Millikin University 10
Illinois College would get off to a hot start in game two of the day. A single by
Emma Nicholson would bring in two runs by
Maddy Morgan and Webster to put the Lady Blues up 2-0 in the first inning.Â
Millikin would answer back by putting together an impressive fourth inning bringing in seven runs to take the lead 8-2 over the Lady Blues. The deficit proved to be too much to overcome as the Lady Blues fell in game two against the Big Blue.
The Lady Blues softball team will hit the road to take on DePauw University in their next contest on Saturday, 3/6 at 3:00 PM.
