JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- Illinois College men's soccer hosted the Principia College Panthers on Thursday night. The team suffered a loss to the Panthers with a final score of 2-1.
Principia was able to get on the board first with a goal from Cole Heinbaugh in the 19th minute on a penalty kick. This gave the Panthers the 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
Heinbaugh would earn his second goal of the day in the 70th minute to put Principia up 2-0 over the Blueboys. Illinois College would answer with a goal of their own by
Niko Scott in the 84th minute to cut the deficit to 2-1.
The Blueboys would put together multiple attempts offensively to tie the game in the final minutes, but would come up short suffering the loss and falling to 0-1-1 overall on the season.
The Blueboys will look ahead to take on Lincoln Christian University on Saturday, 3/13 at 1:30 PM.
