JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Blueboys baseball team earned their first win of the season against the Eureka College Red Devils with a final score of 16-6.
After a run by the Red Devils in the top of the second inning, the Blueboys would take control of the game. The team was able to put up six runs in the bottom of the second to take the dominate lead over Eureka.
The night for the Blueboys just got better from there as they were able to explode offensively in the fifth inning to jump ahead 13-2 over Eureka. The lead would prove to be too much to overcome for the Red Devils and Illinois College would earn the win with a final of 16-6.
Griffin King would come away with the pitching win totaling four strikeouts while only allowing six hits through six innings.
Peyton Phillis,
James Marcinkowski, and
Caleb Uselton led the team offensively each totaling four hits on the day.
The win improves the Blueboys to 1-2 overall this season as they look ahead to host Loras College on Saturday, 3/6 in their next contest.
