Women's Soccer Earns Win In Season Opener

JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- Illinois College women's soccer picked up a win in their home opener against Iowa Wesleyan with a final score of 3-1. 

Haley Sommer was able to strike first with a goal in the 18th minute to give the Lady Blues the early lead. Katie Elmore would add another goal to the board for the Lady Blues after connecting with the net in the 24th minute to go up 2-0. This would be the score as the match headed to halftime. 

Sommer would earn her second goal of the day to put the team ahead 3-0 in the 57th minute. The lead would be too much for Iowa Wesleyan to overcome and the Lady Blues would come away with the win. 

Savannah Henson and Taylor Bentley split the time in the goal for Illinois College recording three saves each in the contest. Sommer led the team offensively recording 14 shots. 

The Lady Blues will look ahead to take on Lake Forest College on Saturday, 3/27 at 1:00 PM.
