JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Lady Blues softball team split their doubleheader against Coe College. IC was able to earn a win in game one 4-3 after extra innings, and suffered a loss in game two. The team now stands at 5-9 overall this season as they look ahead to conference competition.
Game 1- Illinois College 4, Coe College 3
The Lady Blues would get going early earning two runs in the first two innings.
Jessica Belzer doubled to bring in a run by
Madisyn Webster, and
Maddy Morgan was able to score on a sacrifice fly from
Jada Johnson.
Coe College would answer back in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game 2-2 and force extra innings.
The Kohawks would score a run in the top of the eighth inning to put the pressure on the Lady Blues.
Grace Braun would single to bring in
Emma Nicholson and Webster for the game winning runs.
Sydney Hood earned the win at the mound with eight strikeouts pitching all eight innings.
Game 2- Illinois College 1, Coe College 6
The second game of the day proved to go in the Kohawks favor. IC would score first in the top of the second with a run by
Gabriela Argianas.
Coe would have a great fourth inning offensively earning four runs to take the lead 4-1.
The Lady Blues were unable to spark the comeback and would fall in game two.
Illinois College will now look ahead to Midwest Conference competition. They will face Monmouth College on Saturday, 3/27 at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM.
