JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College softball team hosted Webster University in their home opener on Wednesday. The team fell in game one with a final of 2-1, and was able to bounce back to win game two with a final of 5-1. This puts the Lady Blues at 4-8 overall this year.
Game 1- Illinois College 1, Webster University 2
Webster would get on the board early to take the lead in the top of the first 1-0. Webster would add another run in the fourth to increase their lead to 2-0.
The Lady Blues would score a run in the bottom of the fourth after a double by
AnnaBeth Batson brought in
Claudia Adam for the score. IC would not be able to get the tying run and Webster would come away with the win.
The first game of the day featured
Sydney Hood at the mound for the Lady Blues. She was able to end the game with six strikeouts after pitching the entire seven innings.
Game 2- Illinois College 5, Webster University 1
The Illinois College Lady Blues would look to bounce back from their game one loss.
Madisyn Webster was able to score in the top of the first after a single by
Jenna Wright to put the Lady Blues up early. Webster would tie the game in the top of the second with a run of their own to make the score 1-1.
IC would answer right back with a run by
Jessica Belzer after a single by
Maddy Morgan to put the Lady Blues back on top 2-1. Illinois College would build their lead after a single by
Jada Johnson brought in a run by Morgan. The team would add one more run after a single by Belzer advanced
Sam Seggerman in for the score.
Alissa Hodge got the win on the mound for the Lady Blues. She was able to record three strikeouts after pitching the entire seven innings.
The Lady Blues will look ahead to take on Coe College on Friday, 3/12 at 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
