JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- Illinois College earned a big win at home against the Fontbonne University Griffins with a final score of 83-75. This improves the Blueboys to 3-1 overall on the season.
Jake Mazrimas led the Blueboys earning a double-double totaling 18 points and 12 rebounds. Other double figure scorers included
Troy Burrows with 16,
Jaxson Dian with 16, and
Hunter Ottensmeier with 15.
Illinois College would jump ahead early to take a controlling lead over the Griffins. A made layup by Mazrimas would give the Blueboys their biggest lead of the half with the score at 29-16 with 6:10 left before halftime. The team would stand ahead of the Griffins 39-27 at the end of the first half.
In the second half, the Blueboys would take their greatest lead of the contest after a made free throw by Mazrimas to make the score 52-31. The lead proved to be too much for Fontbonne to overcome as IC would finish the game ahead to earn the win.
The Blueboys had a great day shooting the basketball finishing the game with a 53.7 field goal percentage and shooting 52.2 percent from three-point range.
The team will look ahead to host Eureka in their next contest on Thursday, 2/25 at 7:30 PM.
