MONMOUTH, Ill.- The Blueboys basketball team traveled to take on Monmouth College Wednesday night. The team picked up a win over the Fighting Scots with a final score of 86-60. This advances the team to 5-5 overall this season and 1-2 in the MWC.
Jake Mazrimas led the team with 21 points shooting 5-7 from beyond the arc.
Tre Rogers recorded a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Other double figure scorers included
Hunter Ottensmeier (13) and
Benton Singleton (10).
The Blueboys had a dominate performance against the Scots. The team jumped to a demanding 15-2 lead in the first six minutes of the first half. IC was able to build on their lead with a made three-pointer by Mazrimas in the final 10 seconds of the first half. The Blueboys would lead 45-30 heading into halftime.
IC never lost the lead in the second half and walked away with the win. The Blueboys finished the game out-rebounding Monmouth 33-23.
The Blueboys will continue conference play hosting Lawrence University on Saturday, 12/11 at 1:00 PM.
