JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Lady Blues earned a hard fought win over the Lawrence University Vikings with a final score of 66-50. This advances the team to 3-6 overall and 2-2 in the MWC.
IC was led by
Lilly Pepper with 14 points and eight rebounds.
Junie Zirkelbach was also able to reach double figures in scoring with 11 points.
Krista Bass and
Kendra Bass both led the team with four assists in the contest.
The score remained close in a competitive game with both teams tied 9-9 at the end of the first quarter.
Anna McKee connected on a three-pointer to give IC the lead 21-19 with just 2:19 left in the first half.
Samantha Lordan made a three-point basket in the final seconds to give the Lady Blues the lead 26-22 heading into halftime.
IC did not give up the lead for the remainder of the game. A made layup by Pepper with 1:31 left in the fourth quarter gave the Lady Blues their largest lead of the day with the score at 63-46. The team would hold on to defeat the Vikings and come away with the win.
The Lady Blues will travel to take on Central College on Saturday, 12/18 at 2:00 PM.
