ELSAH, Ill.- The Blueboys basketball team traveled to face Principia College in their season opener on Saturday. The team was able to walk away with a win improving to 1-0 after defeating the Panthers with a final score of 73-56.
IC was led by
Jake Mazrimas totaling 19 points and eight rebounds in the contest. The team had three other athletes reach double figures in scoring including
Tre Rogers (15),
Mohammed Fadika (11), and
Hunter Ottensmeier (10).
Nestor Daboin was exceptional defensively finishing the game with five blocks.
The Blueboys jumped ahead early to establish a demanding lead. The team stood ahead of the Panthers heading into halftime with a score of 42-22. IC would continue to dominate in the second half. This would prove to be too much for Principia to overcome as the Blueboys would walk away with a win in their first game of the season.
IC will host Webster University on Tuesday, 11/9 at 7:30 PM.
