JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Blueboys football team celebrated their Senior Day taking on Grinnell College in their final home game of the season. The Blueboys were able to come away with an impressive win over the Pioneers with a final score of 55-24.
The IC football team took the time before the game to honor their 24 senior football players and five senior football operations members. The seniors were greeted by their families and friends as they celebrated their accomplishments with the Blueboys football program.
IC was led by
Destin Chance at Quarterback with 300 yards passing and four touchdowns. Chance was also the leading rusher for the Blueboys with 102 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.
KJ Corley had a phenomenal game leading the team with 142 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns. The defense was led by
Trent Durell with 12 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss.
Kyle Lane had an outstanding game defensively with 11 tackles, four tackles for loss, two sacks, and one interception in the contest.
The Blueboys started off hot jumping to a 20-0 lead in the first quarter. The Pioneers would put together back to back scoring drives to cut the deficit to 20-12 in the second quarter. Chance would connect with Corley for their second touchdown of the day on an 11-yard touchdown pass to extend the Blueboys lead once again.
Grinnell would add another touchdown in the end of the first half to make the score 27-18 with the Blueboys leading heading into halftime.
IC opened up the second half with the ball on their own 23 yard line. The team was able to put together a six play, 77 yard drive capped off by a eight yard run by
Triston Aguilar Ladson. This would put the Blueboys ahead 34-18. This put the game out of reach for the Pioneers as the Blueboys would come away with the victory.
The Blueboys will wrap up their 2021 season on the road taking on Beloit College on Saturday, 11/13 at 12:00 PM.
