JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- The Illinois College Blueboys took on Central College in the Championship game of the Bill Merris Tournament on Saturday. The team suffered a tight loss to Central with a final score of 71-72. This gives the Blueboys their first loss of the season as they stand at 3-1 overall.

Tre Rogers were both named to the Bill Merris All-Tournament Team for their efforts in the weekend tournament. The team was led by Ottensmeier totaling 26 points in the contest with six rebounds. Rogers (16) and
Jake Mazrimas (14) were both able to record double figures in scoring as well in the contest.
IC found themselves in a tight battle throughout the game. The team trailed Central College at the half 31-40. IC would battle back to take the lead in the second half after a made layup by Rogers with 15:25 left in the game and the score at 45-44. The Blueboys trailed by two points down the stretch until Rogers was able to secure a two point basket and the foul setting him up for the three point play.
After hitting his free throw, IC stood ahead 71-70 with just eight seconds remaining in the game. Central was able to connect on a layup to take the lead in the final seconds to earn the win over the Blueboys.
IC will look to bounce back as they travel to take on Anderson University on Wednesday, 11/17 at 6:30 PM.
