JACKSONVILLE, Ill.- IC men's soccer faced MWC competitor Lawrence Unviersity on Saturday afternoon. The team suffered a loss to the Vikings in overtime with a final score of 3-4. This drops the Blueboys to 7-4 overall and 0-2 in the MWC.
Lawrence would get off to a hot start jumping to a two goal lead over the Blueboys in the first half. IC was able to connect with the net on a goal by
Tyler Schiltz in the 45th minute to cut the deficit to 1-2 heading into halftime.
Schiltz would score his second goal of the day after an assist by
Chris Jean-Louis to start the second half. This tied the game 2-2 in the 54th minute. Lawrence then took the lead with a goal in the 81st minute to put the pressure on the Blueboys. IC would score the equalizer after a corner kick by Schiltz was able to set up Jean-Louis for an impressive header. This forced the game into overtime with both teams tied 3-3 at the end of regulation.
The Blueboys would fall after a penalty in the box resulted in a made penalty kick by the Vikings to earn them the win.
Chase McNeill represented the Blueboys in goal with three saves in the match.
The Blueboys will host Illinois Wesleyan University on Tuesday, 10/5 at 7:00 PM.
