RIPON, Wis.- The Illinois College Blueboys football team traveled to take on Ripon College on Saturday evening. The team suffered a loss to Ripon with a final score of 13-24. This drops the Blueboys to 0-4 overall and 0-3 in the MWC.
Logan Wongler led the team in passing going 4-8 with 63 yards and one touchdown.
Devin Tynan was the teams leading rusher totaling 108 yards in the contest.
Collin Brunstein and
KJ Corley each recorded a receiving touchdown for the Blueboys. Defensively, the team was led by
Trent Durell with 13 tackles.
Ripon would get on the board first with a touchdown run from four yards out to take the early lead. After a missed extra point, the Blueboys would trail Ripon 0-6 at the end of the first quarter. The Blueboys would even the score with a 44-yard strike from Wongler to Brunstein to cap off an eight play, 79-yard drive. Both teams would stand tied at 6-6 after the Blueboys extra point was blocked.
IC got the ball back with 6:01 left in the first half starting their drive on their own 17 yard line. The team was able to put together a long drive ending with
Andrew Gaul connecting with Corley for a 20-yard touchdown as time expired. The Blueboys would stand ahead 13-6 as the game headed to halftime.
Ripon was able to produce a huge play to start the second half. The team completed a 83-yard touchdown pass to cut the Blueboys lead to 13-12 after a failed two point conversion attempt. The Red Hawks would then connect on two more touchdown passes in the fourth quarter to secure the victory over the Blueboys.
Illinois College will look ahead to host Lake Forest College in their Homecoming weekend on Saturday, 10/9 at 1:00 PM.
