RIPON, Wis. – A resolute defensive effort from the Illinois College women's soccer team wasn't enough on Sunday. The Lady Blues withstood a barrage of shots from Ripon College and allowed only a single goal, however IC was unable to attempt a shot in the match and the Red Hawks came away with a 1-0 victory. The Lady Blues fall to 5-5-0 (0-2-0 Midwest Conference) with the loss.
Ripon created chance after chance in both halves, but the Illinois College defense and goalkeeper
Charlotte Crofton had nearly every answer. The lone goal of the match came in the 26th minute on a point-blank shot from Maeve Kim, assisted by Brianna Schnell.
Outside of that, Crofton did it all for the Lady Blues, ending with 21 saves. The back line also produced a clearance off the goal line to keep another goal off the board from Ripon.
The Lady Blues return home to England Stadium on Wednesday night for their final non-conference match of the season, hosting Fontbonne University at 7 p.m.
