JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois College women's tennis team tied a single-season wins record on Saturday by downing St. Louis College of Pharmacy, 7-2. The win leveled the Lady Blues' record at 6-6 for the year and matched the 1990, 2013 and 2017 teams for the most wins in a season.
Illinois College jumped out to a 3-0 lead in doubles. The Eutectics defaulted in the No. 3 doubles match and
Sally Hixson and
Sophia Roth put together a solid 8-3 win at No. 1.
Lena Reed and
Madelyn Deardorff then gave the Lady Blues a commanding lead by holding on at No. 2, 8-7 (7-4).
With a default victory at No. 6, IC needed only one more point to claim the match.
Kalisa Goertz ensured the win with an easy 6-0, 6-0 victory over Haley Anderson in the No. 2 singles match. Reed and Deardorff each followed with wins at Nos. 3 and 4.
Illinois College wraps up the regular season on Sunday morning, hosting Cornell College at the Bellatti Tennis Complex at 10 a.m.
