GALESBURG, Ill. – The Illinois College women's soccer team couldn't keep up with Knox College on Saturday afternoon in the Midwest Conference opener for both teams. The Prairie Fire scored two goals quickly to open the contest and then added five more in an explosive second half for a 7-0 victory. The Lady Blues fall to 4-5-0 (0-1-0 MWC) in defeat.
Knox put goals on the board in the third and eighth minutes of the contest to seize control of the match early on. Illinois College buckled down defensively after the second goal and held the Prairie Fire off for the remainder of the half.
The second half was a different story for the Lady Blues. Knox came out determined and notched scores in the 47th, 50th, 53rd, 55th and 59th minutes. Once the flurry was over, Illinois College once again held the Prairie Fire at bay for the rest of the match.
