RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Six players found the back of the net for Dominican University, leading the Stars to a 9-0 victory over the Illinois College men's soccer team on Friday evening. With the first match for both teams now in the books, IC sits at 0-1-0, while Dominican starts the year 1-0-0.
The game's first goal came in the 14th minute when Nicolo Vitale pushed a shot past
Raul Rubalcava to give the Stars the 1-0 advantage. It only took one minute after the first goal for Dominican to extend the lead to 2-0, as Jonathan Hernandez converted the first of two penalty kicks on the night. The first half would ultimately end with the Stars claiming a 3-0 lead.
In the second half, Dominican continued to control the pitch extending the score to 9-0 before the final whistle. Rubalcava collected seven saves in the match for Illinois College.
Illinois College continues its season-opening road trip with a match at Aurora University on September 2. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
