LAKE BLUFF, Ill. - Illinois College couldn't carry over its success from yesterday's 9-0 victory over Ripon College, dropping a 9-0 decision to Lake Forest College on Sunday afternoon.The Blueboys slip back to .500 at 5-5 (1-1 Midwest Conference). Lake Forest improves to 10-6 (4-0 MWC).
At No. 1 doubles,
Miguel Vaca and
Michael Connolly fell to Nick Zazove and Matt Kacyn, 8-1. Brett O'Brien and Scott Drier downed IC's
Cameron Doerr and
Rolando Salazar at the No. 2 spot, 8-2. Lake Forest wrapped up the doubles matches with an 8-2 win at No. 3, with Brant Christensen and Louis Payne defeating
Nazar Otunchiev and
Jacob McQueen.
Vaca put up a strong fight in his first set of singles but ultimately fell to Zazove, 6-4, 6-0. The No. 2 spot was taken by O'Brien, who downed Otunchiev, 6-1, 6-1. Connolly fell at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-1, to Kacyn. Doerr put up the biggest fight for IC, taking seven games before falling to Drier, 6-3, 6-4. Salazar was defeated at No. 5 by Joe Bove, 6-0, 6-0. McQueen couldn't fend off Christensen, dropping the No. 6 match, 6-0, 6-2.
The Blueboys return home for their next match, taking on Monmouth College on April 10 at 5 p.m.
