JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois College men's tennis team fell twice on Saturday, dropping back to .500 overall and in the Midwest Conference following losses to St. Norbert College and Lawrence University. The Blueboys are now 7-7 (3-3 MWC) on the season.

In the morning, Illinois College fell behind to St. Norbert in doubles, 2-1. Nazar Otunchiev and Jacob McQueen earned the point for IC with an 8-4 win at the No. 3 spot.

Midway through singles, rain started to come down and the match was delayed while the teams drove to the Bloomington Tennis Center. Once things resumed, the Blueboys earned points from Miguel Vaca and Cameron Doerr, but the Green Knights were able to nab four singles points to clinch a 6-3 victory. At No. 1, Vaca defeated Ben Vande Zande, 6-0, 6-1. Doerr won a hard-fought 6-4, 7-6 win at No. 4 over Matt La Violette.

The Blueboys ran out of gas in the afternoon against Lawrence. Vaca and Michael Connolly battled hard at No. 1 doubles before falling, 9-7. The Vikings established a 3-0 lead after doubles and expanded the lead from there.

Vaca had the lone point against Lawrence, downing Bill Schuman-Kline at No. 1 singles, 7-5, 6-4. The Vikings were victorious by a score of 8-1.

Illinois College wraps up its home schedule with a 5 p.m. match on April 17 against Westminster College (MO).
