ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Illinois College volleyball team suffered a pair of losses on Friday, falling to 5-4 on the season following sweeps at the hands of Augustana College and Marian University.
The Lady Blues will look to rebound tomorrow. IC plays Wisconsin Lutheran University at 10 a.m. and concludes the tournament against UW-Platteville at 2 p.m.

Illinois College got off to a rocky start on Friday with a three-set sweep against the hosts. The Lady Blues couldn't get anything going offensively, ending with a negative hitting percentage for the match.
Ali Pankey and
Rebecca Shields led the Lady Blues with four kills apiece.
After a dominating 25-10 win from the Vikings to open the match, Illinois College had its best chance in the second set. Augustana was able to eventually pull out a 25-22 win and the third set followed the same script as the first, with the Vikings pulling away for a 25-12 win to clinch the match.
Elizabeth Ganley notched a double-double with 16 assists and 12 digs.
Brenna Garland also had 11 digs and
Madie Budd added 10 digs.
Marian 3, Illinois College 0
(22-25, 23-25, 19-25)
The nightcap was much closer, but Illinois College was swept by Marian University to end a disappointing day for the Lady Blues.
Lisa Lowry led IC with 12 kills in the match and added five blocks. Pankey had nine kills as well, but no other player had more than two.
Trailing 15-10 in the first set, the Lady Blues went on a run to take an 18-17 lead after consecutive aces from Shields. The Sabres responded with three straight points however, and IC would not be able to pull even again in a 25-22 defeat.
In the second set, a four-point rally by Illinois College gave the Lady Blues a 16-13 lead midway through, but Marian ran off five straight points from there for an 18-16 lead. Eventually the Sabres to extend to a 24-19 lead, before a service error opened the door for IC. Shields followed with a kill and Lowry and
MacKenzie Heinz then followed with a block to make it 24-22. After an ace from
Cheyanne Jockisch it was 24-23, but Marian called timeout and then got a kill on the next serve to take a 2-0 lead.
In the final set, Illinois College led by as many as eight points at 13-5, but the Sabres pulled even at 16-16 and then ran off seven straight points for a 23-17 edge. The Lady Blues couldn't make up ground from there and Marian closed out the match in three.
Ganley ended with 22 assists and eight digs in the match. Budd led the Lady Blues with 12 digs and Jockisch had 11.
