St. Norbert Sends Lady Blues to Second Straight Defeat

DE PERE, Wis. – The Illinois College volleyball team came up empty on its two-match Wisconsin trip this weekend. After falling in four sets to Ripon Friday, the Lady Blues were swept by St. Norbert on Saturday, 3-0 (16-25, 17-25, 17-25). Illinois College drops to 12-8 (2-2 Midwest Conference) while St. Norbert goes to 8-13 (3-1 MWC).

The Lady Blues struggled offensive in the match, ending with 30 kills against 18 errors and hitting at a .101 clip. The team's hitting percentage was their third-worst this season. Rebecca Shields led Illinois College with eight kills and a .333 hitting percentage. Lisa Lowry added seven kills, but also committed five errors. Lowry was one of two IC players to reach double-digits in digs with 10.

Freshmen Ali Pankey and Maddie Ramsey each had five kills apiece and MacKenzie Heinz added four. Defensively, Cheyanne Jockisch tied for match-high honors with 16 digs and Elizabeth Ganley had 22 assists.

St. Norbert was led by 12 kills from Hannah Johnshoy and 10 from Anika Johnson. St. Norbert ended the match with 43 kills and 15 errors for a .230 hitting percentage. Aubree Antosch matched Jockisch with 16 digs while Anna Berghoefer had a match-high 24 assists.

Illinois College will look to get back into the win column with a mid-week MWC match at home in Sherman Gymnasium. The Lady Blues host Monmouth College on Oct. 12 beginning at 7 p.m.
