DECATUR, Ill. – The Illinois College men's tennis team continued to deal with growing pains on Tuesday afternoon, losing to Millikin by a score of 9-0 in a non-conference matchup.
The doubles team of
Anthony Samples and Eli Rhoad showed progress in the No. 1 slot, but lost an 8-2 decision to Millikin's Connor Sacks and Noah Klumpe. At No. 2 doubles,
T.J. Lawal and
Brandon Hollenbeck were defeated, 8-1.
Millikin made it a sweep with six wins in singles. The Big Blue won their Nos. 3-6 matches by scores of 6-0, 6-0. Rhoad was able to pick up one game on Emerick Fulton before losing, 6-0, 6-1. Samples was Illinois College's No. 1 singles player, but was defeated by Sacks, 6-0, 6-2.
The Blueboys return to Midwest Conference play on Friday morning, going on the road to face Monmouth College. Action begins at 10 a.m.
