Men’s Tennis Comes Up Empty in Two Matches

GREEN BAY, Wis. – A short-handed Illinois College men's tennis team lost a pair of matches on Saturday on the road against St. Norbert College and Lawrence University. The Blueboys – getting by with four players this weekend – were down 3-0 to start each match and dropped each by a score of 9-0.

Against the Green Knights of St. Norbert, Anthony Samples and T.J. Lawal had the best showings in singles. The duo, playing at No. 1 and No. 2, fell in each match by a score of 6-1, 6-1.

Samples and Lawal were also No. 1 doubles partners in each of the two matches, but fell 8-0 to St. Norbert and 8-1 in the match with Lawrence. Against Lawrence, Brandon Hollenbeck battled at No. 3 singles but lost by a count of 6-1, 6-0. DeVaughn Green suffered a pair of 6-0, 6-0 losses at No. 4 on the day.

Illinois College concludes its weekend trip to Wisconsin tomorrow. The Blueboys face Ripon College in a match beginning at 9 a.m.
