Box Score

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois College volleyball team went down in straight sets (10-25, 11-25, 17-25) on Thursday night to the visiting Cornell Rams, a win for Cornell that clinched the regular season Midwest Conference title. The Rams will host the four-team MWC Tournament next weekend. For IC, the loss ended its hopes of a .500 finish on the season as the Lady Blues drop to 12-15 (2-7 MWC).

Lisa Lowry ended with a match-high 12 kills, but the junior didn't have enough help from the other hitters on the Illinois College team. The Lady Blues combined for 24 kills in the match while committing 20 errors. On the other side of the net, Cornell had 44 kills but only six errors.

After two lopsided losses in the opening sets of the match, IC showed signs of life in the third. After falling behind, 6-3, the Lady Blues battled to come back and knot it at 7-7 with kills from Erin Satterlee, Holly Crocher and Rebecca Shields, plus a block from Crocher and MacKenzie Heinz. The well dried up soon thereafter however, with Cornell expanding a 10-9 lead all the way to 18-9 before an attack error ended the run. IC played hard to the end to not let the lead grow any further, but the team ran out of time due mostly to Cornell's Diamond Boyd.

Satterlee had five kills in the match and Crocher added three more. Courtney Louveau notched 22 assists and Brooke Brandis paced the defensive side of things with 10 digs.

The Lady Blues will host Senior Day on Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. against Grinnell College to close the 2015 season. It will be the final matches in the careers of Crocher, Satterlee and Allison Perkins as IC looks to close out on a high note against the Pioneers.
