JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Illinois College volleyball team began its second home tournament of the year impressively on Friday, notching two victories to run its overall winning streak to three and improving its record to 11-13 for the season. The Lady Blues opened the day with an offensive explosion in a three-set win over Principia, then came from a set down to defeat Illinois Institute of Technology in four sets.

IC will play two more matches tomorrow, meeting Lincoln Christian University (24-12) at 10 a.m. and closing out the tournament against Anderson University (Ind.) (7-17) at 2 p.m.

Illinois College 3, Principia 0
(25-20, 25-13, 25-18)

The Lady Blues played the role of juggernaut in their first match of the tournament, hitting .398 as a team with 40 kills against only five attack errors in the sweep of the Panthers. Lisa Lowry had a match-high 15 kills and four aces, but possibly even more impressive was Holly Crocher's performance in which the senior middle blocker laid down 13 kills in 17 attempts with zero errors for a personal hitting percentage in the match of .765.

Courtney Louveau was the catalyst for the offense with 36 assists and 11 digs, while freshman Brooke Brandis led all players with 12 digs in the match.

Erin Satterlee provided IC with a third offensive option, delivering six kills on 16 attempts.

Principia was led by Sophia Hathaway and Emily Tippetts who had nine kills apiece, but it wasn't enough to keep pace with the surging Illinois College offense. The Panthers fell to 10-11 with the loss.

Illinois College 3, IIT 1
(20-25, 25-20, 25-19, 25-20)

After a slow start to the match, Illinois College found its groove in the second set and put away visiting Illinois Institute of Technology to close out the day in style. The Scarlet Hawks fell to 12-13 following the defeat to the Lady Blues.

Lowry again paced IC with another match-high in kills, this time recording 16 in the match. Crocher and Satterlee each chipped in with eight.

Louveau had her second double-double of the day with 35 assists and 14 digs. Allison Perkins was all over the court defensively for the Lady Blues, coming up with 27 digs. Brandis added 16 digs and Brenna Garland had 10.

IIT received 11 kills from Irena Grauzinis and 10 from Clare Fraeyman. Setter Adriane Walther was impressive with 38 assists and 24 digs. The Scarlet Hawks helped IC's cause by committing eight service errors.
