WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Illinois College volleyball team struggled from the very outset and fell on the road to Carroll University on Friday night in three sets (16-25, 12-25, 16-25). The Lady Blues drop their record to 6-9 (0-2 Midwest Conference), while Carroll improves to 6-11 (2-1 MWC).

It was a quiet night both offensively and defensively for Illinois College. Lisa Lowry and Holly Crocher tied for the team-high in kills with six. Erin Satterlee had a team-best .231 hitting percentage with four kills and an error on 13 attack attempts. Allison Perkins came into the night leading the MWC in digs, but was limited to only six.

The only tie of the first set came at 2-2. A Carroll attack error cut the Pioneer lead to 6-5, but the next four points went Carroll's way and the lead never dropped below five points after that.

A pair of aces from Eve Bahler did give the Lady Blues a brief 2-0 lead in the second set, but it quickly went downhill after that. The final lead for IC came at 5-4, but Carroll reeled off four straight to take the lead and dominated play from there in a 25-12 set win.

The Pioneers had all the momentum and built an immediate 5-0 lead in the third set to take command. The lead was double-digits by the midpoint of the set and Carroll cruised despite a late rally from the Lady Blues.

Illinois College returns to action tomorrow afternoon, traveling to Ripon College for a 1 p.m. start.
