Hoefert wins No. 1 singles match, but Blueboys suffer 8-1 loss to Millikin

John Hoefert won his No. 1 singles match but that was the only victory for the Blueboys in an 8-1 loss to visiting Millikin University on Thursday.

Hoefert scored a 6-3, 6-1 win in singles action for his second win at No. 1 singles this season. Blueboys Anthony Samples, Michael Hoefert, Caleb Brown, Austin Ellsworth and T.J. Lawal all came up short in singles play. The doubles teams of John Hoefert and Samples, Michael Hoefert and Brown, and Ellsworth and Lawal, also fell short.

The Blueboys fell to 0-6. They take on Knox College and Grinnell College on Saturday in Galesburg.
