Box Score 4 BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Going out of conference to conclude the regular season, the Illinois College volleyball team won one of its four matches over the weekend at Illinois Wesleyan. The Lady Blues were defeated in three sets by the Titans to open the tournament (14-25, 12-25, 15-25), but rebounded with a 3-0 sweep of Wisconsin Lutheran to end the day on Friday (25-20, 25-16, 25-22).
On Saturday, Illinois College lost to two talented teams, first falling to Lakeland, 3-0 (20-25, 18-25, 20-25). The Lady Blues ended their season with a 3-1 loss to Concordia (Wisconsin) (19-25, 17-25, 27-25, 16-25). IC ends the season at 8-19 (4-6 Midwest Conference).
Against the hosts,
Lisa Lowry was the top attacker for Illinois College. The sophomore had five kills and added nine digs and seven assists against Illinois Wesleyan.
Courtney Louveau had a double-double with 12 assists and 10 digs.
The Lady Blues had their best match by far against Wisconsin Lutheran.
Holly Crocher had 10 kills and a .500 hitting percentage to pave the way to victory.
Maurissa Moulton pitched in with a team-high 20 digs.
Crocher was the top offensive option for the team against facing Lakeland, tying for match-high honors with 11 kills. Louveau once again had a double-double, this time with 10 assists and 12 digs.
Fighting hard against a team that improved to 24-6 with the win, Illinois College stretched the match to a fourth set against Concordia (Wisconsin). Lowry ended her season on a high note, recording a triple-double with 10 kills, 16 assists and 17 digs. Crocher added 10 kills as well. Moulton led the defensive effort with 24 digs, while Louveau had 18 assists and 13 digs.
Though IC fell short of a bid into the MWC Tournament, the Lady Blues improved their win total by three games over the 2013 season, and upped their conference record from 1-9 in 2013 to 4-6 in the 2014 season.
