Colin Ladd won in singles play and the duo of
Caleb Brown and
Xander Benziger won in doubles play, but it wasn't enough as the Illinois College men's tennis team fell to Greenville College, 7-2, Tuesday night in Jacksonville.
Ladd won his No. 1 singles match by scores of 6-4, 6-4. Brown and Benziger won at No. 3 doubles by an 8-5 score. Benziger, in his first action of the year, also went to a third set before eventually losing in his No. 6 singles match. Illinois College's
Joshua Kuehn, Anthony Samples,
John Hoefert and
Matt Newman lost in singles action. The doubles teams of Ladd and Kuehn and Samples and Hoefert also came up short.
The Blueboys fell to 0-5. They return to action on March 9, when they take on Webster University and Fontbonne University in St. Louis.
