Scott Weakley

An Illinois College alum, Scott Weakley, is in his fourth year in charge of the IC men's and women's tennis programs.

Weakley and the IC tennis programs are coming off a banner year in 2024-25. Both the men’s and women’s teams qualified for the Midwest Conference postseason tournaments – the women for the third straight year and the men for the first time in program history. The Blueboys won the league’s Sportsmanship Award, and Weakley was named the Midwest Conference Men’s Tennis Coach of the Year. On the women’s side, Lily Ingram became the program’s all-time winningest singles player as she recorded her 36th victory and also teamed with Michelle Maag to become the program’s all-time leader in doubles victories with 30.

The 2023-24 campaign on the women’s side was highlighted by the Lady Blues qualifying for the Midwest Conference Tournament for the second straight season after accomplishing that feat for the first time in program history during the 2022-23 season. They also won nine dual matches, which set a school record.

Weakley returned to the Hilltop after working as the head women's tennis coach at St. Thomas More High School in Champaign, Illinois. He was also employed as an English teacher at Unity High School. Weakley has had a long coaching career with experience coaching tennis and men's basketball at the college and high school levels.

"I am very excited to be the men's and women's tennis coach at Illinois College. I am looking forward to helping the players improve their tennis skills and grow their love for tennis, a skill they can enjoy for a lifetime," said Weakley. "It is a privilege to get to be a part of helping them enrich their experience here at IC as a part of the tennis program."

An IC graduate from the class of 1984, Weakley received his Bachelor of Arts in English and his Secondary Education Certification. He then completed a Master of Arts in Education Administration degree from Governors State in 2009.Â
