Scott Reed is in his second full season as the Director of Sports Information at Illinois College after joining the IC staff in October 2023.
Reed comes to the Hilltop with decades of experience working in intercollegiate athletics as well as in the corporate sector. He began his athletics career at DePaul University, where he served as the Assistant, Associate, and Director of Sports Information/Media Relations from 1991-2008.
After his stint in Chicago, Reed became the Associate Athletic Director at the University of Illinois Springfield from 2009-12 where he helped the Prairie Stars move from NAIA status into NCAA Division II status and a member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
In 2012, Reed stepped out of the athletics world and worked as the Director of Industry and Consumer Insights for the Bunn-O-Matic Corporation in Springfield, Ill.
Aside from his college athletics experience, Reed has worked for the Chicago White Sox, serving as an official scorer for regular season games and serving as the Press Box Operations Manager for the 2003 All-Star game and all White Sox postseason appearances. He also spent five years working as a media relations assistant for the Western Open when the PGA event was held at Cog Hill Golf Club in suburban Chicago.
A native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Reed has a BA in Journalism from the University of Iowa, where he worked as a student assistant in the Hawkeye Sports Information Department for four years. Scott and his wife Stacy, who is the Vice President/Chief Program Officer for the Community Foundation for the Land of Lincoln, reside in Springfield with their daughters Annie and Lucy.
